Controller limbo, Tycoon fever, and "idle typing" in this month's letters.
Hello,
I have not been able to get the Nyko Air Flo for PC product to work with the EA Games Metal of Honor Series or James Bond 007: Nightfire. I have contacted Nyko and they have no response.
My system is a SONY VAIO Notebook, Intel Pentium 4 2.66 GHz, MS Windows XP Home Edition.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
Leonard Sasso
Hello Mr. Sasso,
First things first, drivers drivers drivers. I always preach this whenever someone contacts us with a peripheral problem. Old drivers are usually the culprit for 99% of misconfigurations problems.
Secondly, if you're using a USB connection, make sure that windows is correctly detecting the controller for what it is. For your Air Flo, it should detect it as "Human Interface Device". Afterwards, go to the control panel, and select game controllers/gaming options. Windows should be detecting your Air Flo as a "4 axis, 13 button" gamepad.
Given all that, and still no go, you may have a defective controller in which case I would contact Nyko Support.

Hello Cindy,
Zoo Tycoon 2 is set for a September 2004 release on the PC. So you'll have to wait another month for all that Zebra/Monkey goodness.

Misplaced anger
I've just read the review of FIM Speedway Grand Prix on your website, as I've been considering getting it for myself. I've read a few others and whilst the reviews haven't been encouraging, the overall feeling I've gotten is that to an enthusiastic speedway fan, such as myself, it would be worth having. What has gotten me to make the effort to contact you however, is the comment made in the Global Rating bit. I have no problem with anyone not liking the game and commenting on it (however saddened they are that it isn't a game about a different sport), what I really take exception to is comments implying that because the game isn't the greatest, that the sport can't be either. I doubt that whoever idly typed that has ever attended a speedway meeting or even ever caught it on TV, and so has no foundation on which to make such comments. Admittedly speedway isn't the best sport to turn into a game as it is just going round an oval track, but to watch and be a fan of it has been thrilling me for the last 13 years and shall continue to do so. Irresponsible and pointless comments such as yours do nothing to promote the profile of either speedway or your reputation as a site about GAMING. Thank you for your time.

Hello Paul,
If you reread my global comment about FIM Speedway, you'll find that I wasn't insulting the sport at all:
...Maybe FIM Speedway Grand Prix is an exact replica of the sport it hopes to popularize. Isn't that a disheartening thought?
My comment was implying that IF FIM Speedway were actually a replica of the sport, it would be very disheartening. It's more of a slap on the game than anything else, because I'm sure sloshing around in the mud in a circle many times over and over is probably pretty fun... around where you live...
