do you think sony will develop some kind of chip or microchip that will plug into the ps2 and boost its performance in the future??? thanks so much for all your help!!!

I highly doubt it. From a buisness and technical perspective it doesn't make much sense. PS3 systems will probably be hitting the market by 2005. The demand for these things will be enourmous making them much more profitable than a performance enhancing chip for the PS2. Weirder things have happened though.
