6.3 million copies worldwide make "The Sims" best selling PC Game of all time!
Electronic Arts announced this morning that they have shipped over 6.3 million copies worldwide of their unique "life-simulation", The Sims, making it the single best selling PC title in history. The game was first shipped to retailers in February 2000, and has remained on the top selling charts ever since - recently joined by expansion packs/add-ons that too continue to enhance the game's experience and prove to be great-sellers.
"Reaction to The Sims' by both customers and critics have exceeded our most ambitious expectations," said EA president John Riccitiello. "The Sims has become a cultural phenomenon. Its worldwide appeal spans hard-core gamers, casual computer users and even gaming's most elusive group of consumers, women. Over 50 percent of new Sims players are female."
