Although it's a hefty download the price of admission isn't bad.
Beginning July 4th, gamers can download a special “Recon” version of America’s Army, the two-headed videogame in development by the United States Army. The best part of new game is that it's completely free.
America’s Army is made up of Soldiers, a role-playing game and Operations, a first-person action game powered by the latest Unreal Technology.
Recon will be a 220 MB version of Operations containing 10 levels. It will begin with a basic training mission—including rifle range and obstacle course—which when passed will allow players to compete in online missions, ranging from defense of the Alaskan Pipeline against terrorism as a member o the 172nd Infantry Brigade of Fort Wainwright, Alaska to homeland defense as a member of 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry) from Fort Drum, NY.
Recon can be downloaded on July 4th at www.goarmy.com, www.americasarmy.com, www.nvidia.com, www.homelan.com as well as at www.gigex.com and its affiliates.
The Army will release additional missions throughout the summer gearing up towards the game’s full CD release at the end of the summer.
