20,000 gamers needed to test Impossible Creatures beta.
Microsoft Game Studios and Relic Entertainment today announced that 20,000 gamers will be invited to download and participate in an online multiplayer test of Impossible Creatures. On Tuesday, November 26, gamers will be able to download a limited multiplayer version of this unique real-time strategy (RTS) game to help Microsoft stress test the matchmaking servers.
The first 20,000 gamers who download Impossible Creatures will be treated to a tutorial, three multiplayer maps and a pre-built army of combined animals. The Sigma Combiner is also included, allowing gamers to create their own army of fearsome creatures that are generated by mixing and matching the various parts of two different animals. Twenty animals are included in this version, while 50 different animals will be available in the retail product. For more information and to download the Impossible Creatures test version, visit the official site on November 26 at http://www.microsoft.com/games/impossiblecreatures/.
Set in the 1930s, Impossible Creatures is a 3-D RTS game that pits players against an evil madman in a desperate campaign across a chain of remote and diverse islands. Using Earth's most formidable animals as building blocks, players create an army of genetically altered mutant monsters in a struggle to protect an unsuspecting world. Impossible Creatures takes the RTS genre to the next level with streamlined, fast-paced combat gameplay. Developed by Relic Entertainment Inc., the title is scheduled for U.S. release on January 7, 2003.
