Final Fantasy XI reaches 500,000 users

User base should grow in May when game launches for PS2.

Square Enix U.S.A., Inc. informed VGLN.com today that its PlayOnline service has registered 500,000 users for Final Fantasy XI in North American and Japan combined.

The online RPG game was released for the PC on October 28, 2003, while the PlayStation 2 version is scheduled for a May, 2004 release stateside and will be bundled with the PS2 hard drive attachment.
