The launch of two systems can't topple Sony's selling power.
NPD group has recently reported that Sony Corp.'s year-old PlayStation 2 is leading the multibillion-dollar video game console race, followed closely by Microsoft Corp.'s Xbox and Nintendo Co.'s GameCube, according to a report released Monday by Credit Suisse First Boston.
Sony sold 962,000 PlayStation 2 consoles between Nov. 11 and Dec. 8, according to CSFB estimates based on figures compiled by research firm NPDFunworld. Microsoft, which launched Xbox on Nov. 15, sold 934,000 consoles. The GameCube, introduced Nov. 18, sold 602,000.
What does this mean?
Simple. It's all about the games. With the PS2's large gaming library, it's no surprise to this editor which system attracted gamer's dollars during November.
