Bloomberg news has reported that Sony's PS2 has benefitted most from price cuts.
A Bloomberg news report cites NPD Group videogame sales data as showing that all three-console manufacturers received a hearty boost to hardware sales in the month of May.
Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) sold over 520,00 PlayStation 2’s in the U.S. and Canada for the month, a gain of some 315,000 units over April sales. Microsoft’s Xbox sold around 230,00 units (up over 151,000 from April sales) and Nintendo’s GameCube console moved 112,300 pieces in May (up over 30,000 from April sales). In early May, all three manufacturers lowered the price of their respective consoles, with the PlayStation 2 and Xbox now retailing for $199.95 and the GameCube carrying a $149.95 MSRP.
