Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Jungle Storm in development
by Jolex Del Pilar

Monday, August 11, 2003

Game will be a PS2 exclusive.

Ubi Soft Entertainment announced that the company's Paris studio is currently developing a brand new game from the popular Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon(tm) series--exclusively for the Playstation 2. Scheduled to ship for the 2003 holiday, Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Jungle Storm is poised to become the latest addition to a series of gaming that started in 1999.

Developed with PlayStation 2 players in mind, Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Jungle Storm will fully exploit the capabilities of the platform with features such as the wildly popular voice command, and voice chat systems plus online statistics tracking and ladder ranking. Most importantly, this game will mark the first time that PlayStation 2 fans can take their great ghost action online and learn firsthand why action-packed online game play quickly established Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon as the most popularly played game on the Xbox LIVE online game service.

"The Tom Clancy games are built with gamers in mind, and Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Jungle Storm is a great example of that fact. We knew the Ghost Recon franchise offers great online gameplay and fans were demanding it so Ubi Soft spent several of its resources to bring Ghost Recon online to the PlayStation 2.as quickly as possible." said Tony Kee, vice president of marketing for Ubi Soft Entertainment. "We are excited to deliver a great game to the PlayStation 2. The PS2 fans deserve the best and we think Jungle Storm will deliver."

Game Features:

- The first ever online Ghost Recon experience for the PS2:
- 31 multiplayer maps
- 3 new multiplayer modes, for a total of 10 (tentative)
- Online statistics tracking and ladder ranking
- Direct your multiplayer squadmates with full voice chat capabilities.
- Full support for voice commands via the Sony PS2 Voice Communicator
- 2 distinct single-player campaigns:
- All-new 8 mission campaign in Colombia
- 8 mission single-player campaign, set in post-Castro Cuba
- New cinematics thrust you into the deadly world of Special Forces combat
- New, streamlined interface and controls

Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Jungle Storm carries an MSRP of $39.99 and has been rated "M" for Mature by the ESRB.
