Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2005

Electronic Arts

EA Sports

# of Players: 1 - 2, Xbox Live

Genre: Sports

Origin: United States

Grapevine: I am a self confessed Tiger Woods junkie, I like the mix of realistic golf, with feeling of happy gilmore thrown in for comedy and keeping the golfing genre fun.

So anyway, back in May @ E3, I spent the better half of two hours playing Tiger Woods 2005, and I grilled an associate producer about this latest offering to the golf playing masses. I was blown away at what was to be coming my way in September and now that I've demolished it, I thought its time to go ahead and review it.

I am a self confessed Tiger Woods junkie, I like the mix of realistic golf, with feeling of Happy Hilmore thrown in for comedy and keeping the golfing genre fun.

Tiger Woods fans through the years have come to see their title evolve in many ways, many of them graphically, new and improved golfing and also the inclusion of the greatest create-a-character in the gaming industry today, and with Tiger Woods 2005 its gone so many steps further than its predecessors.

The create-a-character or commonly known as GameFace, has gone way in depth this year and you can truly include everything, from scars to body piercings, weather spots to skin blemishes. you can create anyone if you wanted to.

The Item list is huge; a large array of outfits, and accessories to put on yourself, or whoever you choose to use as a golfer.

The World Tour from the 2004 Tiger Woods, is now the Legend Persuit, as you go on a rampage through a host of newly created characters for this season, which is huge for the Tiger Woods fan, although EA has re-hashed alot of their signature animations, it is refreshing to golf against some new blood, Justin Timberlake even created and made some new animations for his unlockable character, "the Hustler".

Your quest to unlock 5 of the most recognized faces in golf who are legends themselves ( Arnold Palmer, Steve Ballesteros, Ben Hogan, Gary Player, Jack Nicklaus, but no Vijay Singh!!!), leads you to the man himself Tiger Woods.

It's Tiger's latest rival, Chi Chi. The create-a-character mode features lots of depth this year.

This game is still not as challenging as I would have wanted to, and that's with the difficulty setting set to the max, but its still really fun. The 2 new golf enhancements give you the abilities to change your stance, to allow you to hit the ball low under some well placed trees, also giving you the ability to change your stance to alot for wind speed and hit the ball higher and softer.

The other enhancement gives you the ability to see Tiger Style when it comes to putting on the green, "Tiger Vision" is for the person who cannot sink those difficult angled putts, you gain a total of 4 tiger visions per round of golf, if youmax out the putting attributes.

The biggest addition to this years is the ability to "Tiger Proof" and create your own courses, making the bunkers biggeror smaller, or making the fairway insanely tight and difficult, or go so far as giving the fairways dollar signs on them. This takes alot of time and effort to get a high rating and make a difficult course, for others to play.

The tournament seasons are still not as challenging, you will still destroy the competition and leave them in the dust, but its still a good way to learn the courses and challenge yourself.

There is alot packed in on this title, with the ever popular Real Time Events, that happen every week, this title doesnt go sour in a hurry, plus the inclusion of custom soundtrack for the xbox, and XBOX LIVE play, this game has it all.

--- Joe "Weeman" Soria

Gameplay: [9.0]
Still an amazing game, with alot of things to unlock and do.
Graphics: [9.0]
Great visuals, GameFace alone will knock you off your feet.
Sound: [7.5]
Whack, and "wheww" , how much sound do you get from a golf game?
Presentation: [9.5]
The real legend persuit was when I shopped for this game. Nice menus, and interface design.
Replay Value: [9.5]
With Real Time events all throughout the year you'll still be turning it on in July to play, not to mention Xbox live support.
Global Score: [9.2]
I'm going to wear this game out, so I might need another copy come Christmas.
