Grapevine: If you played Dave Mirra's Freestyle BMX 2 then you've played BMX XXX.

Ok, be honest. You couldn't wait for BMX XXX since it was announced. You and your perverted mind (not that there's anything wrong with that, unless you're some 40 year old single guy, then there's something wrong) yearned for the unlockable stripper videos and the "adult" humor. Now that BMX XXX is here, does it live up to the hype or fall short of greatness. Well, let's begin.

If you played Dave Mirra's Freestyle BMX 2 then you've played BMX XXX. To me it seems like Dave Mirra's Freestyle BMX 2.5 which was a bit disappointing. I was disappointed to find out that the same engine was used. Not that the Dave Mirra 2 engine is bad (it's not perfect either) it's that I was expecting an upgrade... an improvement. This doesn't really hinder the gameplay though, it's just something that would have been nice to address.

The controls are easy to get used to. If you've played any of the Tony Hawk games (who hasn't) then BMX XXX should be a breeze to pick up. Y is for grinding, A is for accelerating and bunny hopping, B is for modifying your tricks, and X along with the D pad or Left Stick are used to perform tricks. The Left and Right Triggers are used for skidding and for spinning while in the air.

The visuals in BMX XXX are good but definitely don't use the full potential of the Xbox. It's a shame that the graphics are not beefed up for each system due to it being ported. The good thing about the visuals in the levels is that each level is huge and differs from the last one. You have indoor levels, malls, and snow covered cities. The city is well animated with pedestrians and vehicles that help set a nice mood.

Like its predecessor, the sound suffers. If you turn down the music volume and play with just the sound effects you'll think your television is on mute. While not completely silent, the levels seem dead. The only sound that you will hear is a little thud from when your bike lands and a scratching noise when you grind an object. It's a real shame that more time wasn't put into the sound effects. The soundtrack is a nice mix of new and old songs that vary from Rock to Rap with some classics such as Green Day's Basket Case. While not making you forget about the bad sound effects, the soudtrack does help give more life to the levels. Oh, and if you don't like any of the songs, you can use your own!

BMX XXX will last you for a long time if you plan on completing all of the objectives. While having many of objectives is good, some may become frustrated and quit. Dont quit, your reward will be video clips of beautful female dancers.

Overall, BMX XXX, while not revolutionary, provides an enjoyable gaming experience. So give into temptation and sit back and relax and help the pimp recover his money.
