Gates "won't show Microsoft's cards."
A reuters story had a few interesting details about an encounter with software tycoon, Bill Gates, at the on going CES 2004 show.
According to Gates, Microsoft is well underway on developing the new console, which he promised would push the boundaries “in terms of expanding what people think of as what the device can do.”
Also planned for release later this year for the Xbox is an add-on that will bring Windows XP Media Center Edition functions to the game machine, effectively turning the console into a set-top box capable of playing back video and music and displaying photos.
Gates had this to say, “In terms of the next round, hey it's a new game. We're not showing our hand and I don't think Sony's showing their hand. We're doing some very cool work but that's really all we say at this point."
