Game will be shown to filmmakers and actors alike at Motorola Lodge.
Ubisoft informed us today that Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow will premiere at an event coinciding with the 2004 Sundance Film Festival. This unveiling marks the first time a video game has debuted in or around a film festival and demonstrates the increasing prominence of video games in the entertainment pantheon.
Ubisoft, Motorola and Xbox Live will host an after-hours lounge at the Motorola Lodge. There they will debut the game to an audience of celebrities, filmmakers, entertainment executives, musicians and influential trendsetters. The event, which takes place on January 18th, will provide access and a first opportunity to play the eagerly awaited stealth-action game in a relaxed lounge environment.
Premiering the game at the Sundance Film Festival makes perfect sense as Hollywood and the video game industry continue to converge, according to Ubisoft's Vice President Tony Kee. "Movies and games have the same goal: to satisfy and mesmerize audiences. Whether or not the final product is a film or a game, a good one inspires strong emotions: tension, fear, elation and frustration. Clancy's Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow, with stunning production values, a compelling story, and incredible action, is a perfect example of the evolution of games. And, as a renowned launching pad for hit films, Sundance is the ideal forum to display the game's many strengths to an audience that appreciates great story lines presented in visual form.”
