Nintendo-Europe officially announces GameCube launch details

500,000 consoles go on sale May 3rd with 20+ titles.

Nintendo of Europe today officially announced the launch date, pricing, units, and game lineup for GameCube's release in Europe. 500,000 units will be available on May 3, 2002, with a total of 1 million units to cover the launch period. The GameCube hardware will be available in Purple and Black colours, priced at ~249 Euros, and software priced at ~60 Euros. First-party launch titles include Luigi's Mansion and Wave Race: Blue Storm. Two more, Super Smash Bros. Melee and NBA Courtside 2002, will follow on the release date of May 24. The 20+ launch game lineup is shown below:
