Zelda high seller in Japan
by VGLN Staff

Tuesday, December 24, 2002

The Wind Waker was popular during the last week in Japan.

Media Create, a provider of sales data and rankings for Japanese console and software, passed along its weekly list of the top 10 selling console software titles in Japan.

Here is the company's full report, covering the week of December 9 – December 15:

Ranking—Title—Platform—Publisher
1. The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker—GC—Nintendo
2. World Soccer Winning Eleven 6: Final Evolution—PS2—Konami
3. Pokemon Sapphire—GBA—Pokemon
4. Pokemon Ruby—GBA—Pokemon
5. .hack//Corrosive Contamination Vol. 3—PS2—Bandai
6. Guilty Gear XX—PS2—Sammy
7. Clock Tower 3—PS2—Capcom
8. Mario Party 4—GC—Nintendo
9. Mega Man EXE 3—GBA—Capcom
10. Gallop Racer 6: Revolution—PS2—Tecmo

Media Create reports that the newly released Zelda title and the World Soccer title, also a new release, moved an estimated 410,000 and 340,000 units apiece respectively. The firm dubbed the performance of the Zelda game “stagnant,” with only 50.54 percent of total stock in the market sold through, comparing it to past sales of Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask (470,000 sold in its first week of release) and Zelda -Ocarina of Time (570,000 units sold in its first month at retail).
