Dolby to release game trailers
by Kit

Wednesday, July 21 2004

New trailers will show off 5.1 audio.

Dolby Laboratories today announced the availability of a new trailer for incorporation on game titles, which will help gamers identify which titles offer an unparalleled 5.1 multichannel experience. Created by Imaginary Forces, the entertainment and design firm that developed opening titles for such movies as Spider-Man and Mission: Impossible, the trailer celebrates Dolby's legacy in games. It is currently available at no cost through games@dolby.com for inclusion in upcoming holiday titles.

Entitled "Argon," the trailer features liquid neon lasers that circle around gamers and converge on the Dolby® Digital or Dolby Pro Logic® II logo. Argon provides a visual representation of the impressive multichannel sound offered from Dolby and the immersing environment it provides game players. The company is continuing to extend its surround sound heritage in cinema to the games industry.

The trailer makes it even easier for gamers to identify which titles offer Dolby surround sound. Publishers will be able to leverage Dolby's trailer to better market the value that Dolby multichannel audio surround sound brings to games.

"Dolby surround sound technology is revolutionizing the way games are played," said Jack Buser, Manager of Game Developer Relations at Dolby Laboratories. "This new trailer enables developers and publishers to easily convey their commitment to deliver the best possible game experience."
