Robin McShaffry to be featured speaker at conference.

Mary-Margaret.com is pleased to announce that founder and V.P. Robin McShaffry will be a featured speaker at the Shawnee Conference 2.0 for Interactive Digital Technologies in Portsmouth, Ohio on October 1, 2004. The Shawnee Conference 2.0, presented by Shawnee State University, is a tri-state gathering of educators, game industry professionals, leaders, funders and students involved in the growing game, simulation and learning technology field.

This Friday, October 1, Robin McShaffry, Vice President of Operations and a founding Director of Mary-Margaret.com, will participate as a featured speaker at the day-long regional conference, presenting a lecture entitled “Creating the Future: What it Really Takes to Get into Game Development.” McShaffry’s talk will cover the different disciplines of game development, where the career potential lies, and what qualities hiring managers are seeking. She will also be discussing the far-reaching possibilities of a workforce that has the skills to make games. Later that afternoon, McShaffry will take part in a breakout session with over 100 high school and college students from the region, where she will discuss the nuts and bolts of getting your first game job.

The Shawnee Conference 2.0 for Interactive Digital Technologies was developed by the Shawnee State University to assist interested individuals in Ohio, Kentucky and West Virginia to discover more about interactive digital technologies, to learn about what groundwork has already taken place to develop a center of excellence for gaming, simulation and learning technologies, and to meet representatives from the growing game, simulation and learning technologies industry already burgeoning in the area. Over 500 conference attendees will hear from game developers, funders, investors and policy-makers who are collaborating to help the regional interactive industry to grow in the near future.

McShaffry states, "I was honored to be asked to participate in this important educational conference in its second year. Mary-Margaret.com recognizes that Ohio, Kentucky and West Virginia hold a lot of untapped potential for gaming greatness. It is exciting for us to contribute our knowledge and to help to bring new industry to the area."

The Shawnee Conference 2.0 for Interactive Digital Technologies is being held at the Vern Rife Center for the Arts at Shawnee State University, 940 Second Street in Portsmouth, Ohio. The conference is being presented by Shawnee State University. Visit http://www.visualist.org/ssu2/ for complete conference details. Admission is free, and registration is recommended.
