Yankee Group reports large number of women gravitating towards mobile market.
According to data from the Yankee Group, 58.0 percent of mobile gamers in the U.S. are women, far outweighing the 42.0 percent from their male counterparts.
That being said, men were still more apt to purchase a mobile game, with 29.0 percent of mobile gamers purchasing games, versus 17.0 percent of women.
Michael Goodman, Yankee Group Media & Entertainment Strategies senior analyst, commented, “The largest market may be getting the least attention in a space that's increasingly competitive. This could be important news for games manufacturers and other content providers making large investments in game design and marketing programs that target men and adolescent boys."
