Activision informed VGLN.com that the company has released a special retail edition of its action game Call of Duty, ranked as the #1 best-selling PC title in dollars from November 2003 to February 2004, according to NPD Techworld, U.S. PC sales report. The Call of Duty: Game of the Year edition features Infinity Ward's original award-winning WWII first person action game in addition to post-release product updates, including a new multiplayer mode and maps, EAX 3 sound support, mapmaking toolkit and multiplayer gameplay enhancements. Currently available at retail outlets nationwide, the Call of Duty: Game of the Year edition has a suggested retail price of $49.99 and is rated "T" (Teen - Blood, Violence - content suitable for persons ages 13 and older) by the ESRB.

Call of Duty has won more than 72 Game of the Year honors and 50 Editors' Choice Awards worldwide, including the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences - Interactive Achievement Awards and the U.K.'s British Academy of Film and Television Art's Overall Game of the Year honors. According to Dusty Welch, vice president of global brand management, Activision, Inc., "With the new multiplayer maps and mode of play as well as key enhancements, the Game of the Year edition delivers the ultimate Call of Duty experience all in one package."

Developed by Infinity Ward, Call of Duty: Game of the Year takes players to the frontlines of WWII combat, as an ordinary soldier fighting together with their squad through the war's most epic battlefield moments. Through 24 devastating game missions, players take on Nazi forces through sensational battle scenarios, featuring scores of soldiers and incredible special effects, played out through three Allied forces perspectives - U.S., British and Russian. Call of Duty: Game of the Year also delivers an intense team-based multiplayer experience for up to 32 battle-ready combatants.
